The Rainforest

❧ The Ruins/Portal Base

Thusians can visit the rainforest through a portal that's been stationed in the ruins of a building, trapped high up in a colossal tree. When they first step through the portal, they'll find themselves in a room that has been cleared out and sealed with a special nature-proof door.

Outside of that room, the building itself is very similar in design to the HQ. However, other than the portal room, this one has been turned on its side--the walls now floors and the floors now walls. There is also a great gaping crack through the Level 2 of this building, leaving it partially exposed to the wilderness, meaning it's overgrown even worse than the HQ on day 1. The tree that the ruins are embedded in is at the heart of this part of the jungle-swamp, and is massive enough to seem like a living cliff face, when one is standing next to it. From this tree seems to spread all other trees in the jungle.

❧ The Rainforest

The area beyond the ruins resembles a tropical rainforest on steroids. There are trees everywhere and they're huge, towering hundreds of feet over the rainforest floor and going on for as far as can be seen. The branches of the trees criss-cross over each other, creating a maze of intertwining pathways that lead all the way up into the canopies and down to the floor of the rainforest. They are all covered in an assortment of plant life, all of which are generally much larger than any earth variety.

The forest floor is absolutely flooded with water and there's no land in sight. Diving into the water reveals that it goes down for at least another 100 feet, but the water is murky and it's hard to make out anything through it.

❧ The Weather

Weather-wise, while it can reach sweltering temperatures up at the very tops of the trees, below the canopy the rainforest averages in the mid to high 70°s Fahrenheit in terms of temperature during the day and mid to low 60°s Fahrenheit at night. It rains frequently, for a few hours at a time every other day. At night, a cool fog settles into the rainforest, it's relatively thin but it goes all the way from the canopy to the water's surface. The fog melts away over the course of dawn and is completely gone during the day.

❧ The Wildlife

Both inside and outside of the Rainforest Base have been completely taken over by nature, aside from the starting portal area. Rainforest visitors will find that the local wildlife is aggressive for the most part, especially outside the ruins where they are generally bigger and more deadly. Wildlife outside is particularly aggressive; no more than 40 minutes will pass before something will stumble across any travelers, intent on eating them.
