DESCRIPTION
BEHAVIOR
USES

AMPHIBIANS
❧ Pilot Frogs

CREDIT
Frogs that come in a HUGE variety of bright colors and size, ranging from quarter-sized to palm-sized.
Generally climb all over everything and are capable of sticking to anything. Very active; will generally be constantly moving from surface to surface, hunting bugs. Covered in a slimy coating that causes disorientation and fatigue when placed in contact with skin.
Once cleaned of their natural coating and carefully skinned, the frogs are quite tasty.
❧ Fisher Frogs

CREDIT
Large frogs that resemble bullfrogs, roughly the size of a queen-sized bed. Dark green in color, with a long black tongue.
Fond of floating at the surface of areas of water with just their back showing, which looks like a very slippery lilypad above the water. They have a highly flexible, sturdy tongue that they can move in an almost snake-like manner. Will typically hunt by waiting for something to land on its back, then use its tongue to attack it, or use its tongue to 'feel' around for prey, then snatch it and drag it back to its mouth.
Giant delicious chicken. The tongue is also edible and tastes like very fine, rich beef tongue.

ARACHNIDS
❧ Stiltwalkers

Long-legged spiders that average between 20 to 50 ft tall. Their legs and body are dark brown with moss or vines growing on them; the legs resemble thin trees if the spider holds still long enough, with thin sharp points at the ends capable of piercing through flesh.
Carnivorous; hunts by waiting for unsuspecting prey to wander underneath its main body, then stabs through it with its legs to pin it against the ground and begin devouring the prey live.
The insides of the spider are edible, almost similar to a crab in terms of fleshiness. Once hollowed out, the legs are as sturdy as bamboo and the carapace serves as a... very big bowl-like shell for your very big bowl-like shell needs.

BIRDS
❧ Ballista Blues

❦❦❦
A flightless bird that resembles a large running bird (ostrich), with black and green and blue feathers. Grows to be about 7' tall, with 6 inch long claws on their feet. Their eggs are a pale green in color and the size of a football; generally one nest will contain 5-8 eggs.
Highly aggressive and territorial, with a kick strong enough to send an enemy flying into a tree. Typically fights by first kicking up rocks and other small hard objects, then kicking them at their enemies to keep them at a distance. Generally a family unit of 3-5 will build its nest somewhere secure and will always leave at least half the group to defend the nest while the rest forages (frugivorous diet). The skin on their legs is thick and hard to cut through; they're also fairly intelligent and will focus on defending/moving the nest when faced with stronger predators.
The meat of the bird is tough and not very tasty, but edible. The eggs, however, are very rich and delicious, but incredibly hard to crack open.

FISH
❧ (Fish #01)

Long, narrow eel-like fish with wide, flattish heads that are usually a muddy brown color. They have thin, razor sharp teeth and the scales on their fins, tail, and across their backs are all hardened and sharp. Range in length from anywhere between one to three feet long.
Travel in schools of 10-20 fish close to the surface of the water. Attracted by body heat and sound and highly aggressive when it comes to feeding. Capable of snapping clean bites of flesh out of a person. They are also able to survive out of water for up to an hour and will continue their aggressive behavior, despite being unable to effectively move.
Edible and very tasty, but have a lot of bones.
❧ (Fish #02)

CREDIT
❦❦
Dull gray fish with a streak of bright blue or green scales down their backs. It has tendrils growing out from the top of its head, which have a sharp pointed tip at the ends. Grows to be no greater than 2 feet in length, but can get exceptionally fat.
Carnivorous, but it generally hunts prey smaller than itself and will avoid larger predators. It will generally bury itself into sand or mud with only its tendrils showing and wait for prey to wander by, then stab the prey with the ends of its tendrils, which secrete a limb-numbing poison that can last for hours
A nice fatty fish, but with a lot of small bones in it. The tendrils, when dried out, harden into a spear-like tip that's very durable.
❧ (Fish #03)

CREDIT
❦❦
Levels 1 & 2 (submerged)
Round, ten feet long fish that resemble eels in the shape of their bodies. Their bodies are sleek and scaleless and range in color from a dark brown to a faded green.
Capable of generating an electric shock that varies in intensity from a light sting to stunning or killing a fully grown person. Will only generate a kill shock if it feels threatened or cornered. It can also generate varying levels of shocks up to eight hours after its death, so long as its electric organs are intact (located in the tail).
They're also air breathers and must come up to the surface for air every half hour or so. They generally lurk against floors though.
Edible only when fully cooked and is quite tasty when prepared correctly. The blood of the eel contains a toxin that prevents coagulation and can be used for related purposes.

INSECTS
❧ (Insect #01)

❦❦
Green and silver dragonflies that grow to have a body about 2 feet long and a wingspan of over four feet. Their legs are covered in small, inch-long, razor-sharp growths.
An aggressive predator; it will not stop attacking until it obtains a meal. It typically hunts by swooping out of the air and using its legs to form a basket, curling around whatever its hunting and carrying it off to be eaten. It will use the growths on its legs as saws to cut through larger animals and carry away chunks of meat.
The legs can be used as saws. Their wings are like moldable plastic in consistency, so they can be used for various purposes.

MAMMALS
❧ Invisibambi

CREDIT
❦❦❦
A short deer-like mammal that is only three feet at its tallest. Its fur is a misty grey in color that allows it to blend perfectly into the night fog, making it easier to see from far away than from nearby. It has antlers on its head that can grow up to five times its size into a complex system of antlers whenever it feels in danger.
Only appears during night, when the fog has spread over the rainforest. An herbivore that will aggressively defend itself by using the fog to take its enemy by surprise, then escape once its enemy has been rendered unable to follow. It's VERY fast and able to easily leap high distances, allowing it to move easily among the network of branches.
Its meat is the most tender and juicy meat you will ever have. Ever.

PRIMATES
❧ Batmonkeys

CREDIT
❦❦❦
Small winged monkeys, no taller than a foot, with a two-foot wingspan similar to the wings of bats. They also have a long tail, double the length of their bodies, that ends in a three-taloned claw and are a dirty brown in color.
Noisy and explorative, they're quick in movement and tend to stay in high areas. However, they're very easily lured down with food, particularly fruits, but will scratch using their tail-claw when they're feeling threatened.
Edible and are comparable to eating some very fine veal. The wings in particularly are especially tasty when fried crispy.
❧ Pterakongs

CREDIT
❦❦
Large winged monkeys, around 5 to 6 feet tall when standing, with a wingspan double their height similar to the wings of bats. They also have a long tail, double the length of their bodies, that ends in a three-taloned claw and are a dirty brown in color.
Noisy and aggressive, they're particularly fast and agile, making use of the tangle of wines and branches to move quickly. Their wings are more often used to glide and dart between further branches, increasing their range of mobility. Their preferred method of hunt for animals is to either smash their prey with a heavy object or to drop them from a high distance.
Edible, but their meat is tough and not very tasty. Their wings are delicious when prepared fried and crispy.

REPTILES
❧ Blue/Sapphire Crocagons

CREDIT
❦❦
Deep sapphire blue crocodile-like creatures with elongated bodies, large wing-like fins on their backs, long heavy tails, and sharp, hooked talons with webbing between their fingers. Their jaws are long and crocodile-shaped with two rows of jagged teeth. Teeth are only about an inch long, but sharp, and their bite is poisonous, inducing fever and dizziness quickly. Range in length from 15 to 20 feet.
Nest in small groups in dry areas surrounded by water, but will venture in and out of water for food. Will eat anything EXCEPT most basic plant life. Are capable of working together or solo. Highly intelligent. One of the more common and dangerous creatures.
Capable of surviving underwater without air for hours at a time and are much quicker underwater than they are above it. Their biggest strengths are their quick turning ability and thick back armor.
Their meat is edible, with a strong fishy taste to it.
Have poison sacs which should be avoided on dissection or it will contaminate the meat. The poison can be used to coat blades and deal with other creatures (the dragons, however, are immune).

❧ Emerald/Green Lizagon

CREDIT
❦❦
Emerald green dragon-like creatures with narrow bodies, wings, and sharp, hooked talons that will let them run on any viney surface (walls, ceilings whatever). Teeth are only about an inch long, but sharp, and bite is poisonous, inducing fever and dizziness quickly. Range in size from great dane to stallion.
Nest in small groups in sunny areas, but will explore for food. Eat just about anything EXCEPT most basic plant life (no vines or berryless shrubs). Are capable of working together or solo. Highly intelligent. Probably one of the more common and dangerous creatures.
Their night vision isn't great and they like to stick to lit areas. Will line their nests with fairy light flowers.
They have light, brittle bones. Their scales can act as a weaker but more flexible armor. The meat is lean and gamey but edible. Have poison sacs which should be avoided on dissection or it will contaminate the meat. The poison can be used to coat blades and deal with other creatures (the dragons, however, are immune).
❧ Ruby/Red Lizagon

CREDIT
Ruby red dragon-like creatures with with narrow bodies, wings, and sharp, hooked talons that will let them run on any surface. Teeth are about five inches long and sharp, and their bite is poisonous, inducing fever and dizziness quickly. Has a noticeably long tail that's spiked at the end with green spikes and a much wider wing span than their smaller relative. Range in size from rhino to adult orca.
Nest in small groups along the canopy and will generally climb down into the lower areas for food. Eat just about anything EXCEPT most basic plant life (no vines or berryless shrubs). Are capable of working together or solo. Highly intelligent and will recognize a leader in the group and follow the directions given to them by the leader.
Their scales can act as a weaker but more flexible armor. The meat is lean and gamey but edible. Have poison sacs which should be avoided on dissection or it will contaminate the meat. The poison can be used to coat blades and deal with other creatures (the dragons, however, are immune).
❧ Vineaconda

CREDIT
Anaconda-like snake. Grows to be up to around 60 feet long and generally come in shades of brown or green to blend with their environment.
Tends to arrange itself among branches in the tree to look identical to a branch. When something steps on it, it'll immediately curl a portion of its body around the creature and squeeze. Its skin is tough, nearly impossible to pierce through.
The inner side of the snake's skin is naturally kind of sticky, but not strongly sticky. The outer side of the snake skin is impervious to liquids and heat. From this, the snake skin can be used for bandages (with a cloth) or other similar items.
❧ (Reptile #01)

CREDIT
❦❦
Bright red, slightly slimy snakes that grow to be around 3 to 5 feet long. They naturally secrete a highly acidic slime all over their bodies that is capable of slowly burning through anything they come in contact with.
Their eggs resemble bright red, melon-sized pods.
Often locatable by the acid-burned trails they leave against branches and trees. The snakes are passive for the most part, but will retaliate when provoked. They hunt by flicking the acid gathered at the tips of their tails at their prey, weakening it until they can move in for the kill.
They lay their eggs against the branches and trunks of trees; these eggs are very sensitive and will burst open upon contact, releasing the snake inside.
The acid could prove useful, if you can find a way to collect and store it.
❧ (Reptile #02)

CREDIT
❦❦❦
A brown snake that averages 4 to 9 feet in length, with intricate gold markings running down its back.
The snake is capable of emitting a sound when rubbing its scales together that has a hypnotic effect on people who listen to it for too long. Those that become hypnotized follow the sound to where the snake is and lay down in a trance for the snake to eat them.
It's also capable of 'swimming' across water surfaces, though it will not often be found in the water unless particularly hungry.
Edible, with a rich taste that is distinctly cheesy.

FERNS
❧ Common Ferns

CREDIT
❦ (❦❦❦❦ for blue ferns)
A HUGE assortment of ferns grow all over the trees in the rainforest, in a wide range of sizes, shapes, and color. Most ferns are some variation of brown or green in color, and there are the rare blue ferns, but they all look different and it's difficult to pick out the individual species considering the amount of variety (you can easily go for a mile without seeing the same fern twice).
They grow EVERYWHERE. Some will even grow upside-down on branches, on tree trunks, everywhere.
Most ferns are inedible, but if you can find a blue fern, it has a high medicinal value when ground up.

FLOWERS
❧ Fairy Lights

CREDIT
❦❦
Brittle, bark-like white vines that grow large (plate sized) white and yellow flowers that emit a mimicry of sunlight.
These flowers grow in long chains, like christmas lights, and if you cut them off closer to the their hub (which will be eventually found on the roof) the ones further away will gradually dim and die. They tend to grow along the ceiling or walls, and provide sunlight to the other plants within the darkness of the building that needs it. They are still poisonous if ingested but otherwise harmless.
Lights! If you put a cutting of these flowers in water it will provide gradually dimming light for roughly three days. They don't need to be purified for this. A single flower gives off roughly as much light as a modern indoor light bulb.
❧ (Flower #01)

❦❦
A tall green plant that resembles a tree, with a thick brown trunk, but instead of normal branches all of its 'branches' hang down and have a red and orange spotted 'pitcher' at the end. The rim of the pitcher is edged with jagged looking rows of teeth-like thorns, and the thick gel inside the pitcher is mostly clear with a tint of pink.
The gel emits a sweet fragrance that attracts its prey- once anything enters the 'pitcher' part of the plant, it snaps shut the lid. The snapping force is strong enough to cut clean through bone. The pitcher of the plant is hard as stone and the lid will remain shut while the gel slowly dissolves whatever prey the pitcher has caught, digesting it.
The gel inside the pitcher is drinkable, if you really want to, but you're guaranteed to knock out after one sip. Otherwise, the gel is useful as a slow-burning substance that can be spread across surfaces like gunpowder trails or used as flare lights. The flame from gel is a bright pink.
❧ (Flower #02)

CREDIT
❦❦❦
During the day, this plant is just a clump of dark green, fern like-leaves with long, thin stems that end in a green, unopened bloom. At night, the bloom opens up to reveal a large, deep black flower that has a large number of tendrils growing from its bloom.
The plant is absolutely harmless and unnoticeable during the day but at night, particularly when the mist rolls in, the flower blooms actively move around, feeling into the mist with their tendrils. They're attracted to heat and once they catch hold of something live, they'll drag it up to the main bloom, which is lined with sharp teeth. The bloom will attach to its prey and begin drinking its blood- once its had its fill it will let go, leaving teeth marks shaped in a circle on its prey.
The tendrils from the plant, once dried out, are strong enough to be used as string or twine, especially when braided together.
❧ (Flower #03)

❦❦
A flowering plant with short green leaves and a long, thick brown stalk that grows up to 20 feet tall. At the end of the stalk grows a large, deep yellow bloom that resembles a tulip the size of a large beach ball. When the flower wilts, it turns into a large, round yellow and black pod.
This plant only grows on the underside of branches, with the blooms and pods hanging down toward the ground. The blooms are harmless but the pods will explode violently if disturbed, releasing yellow pollen into the air. The pollen induces immediate allergic reactions (sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, etc) that last for a full day.
The bloom of the plant is edible and a natural remedy for the symptoms caused by the pollen of the plant. It's also quite hardy in general to eat. The stalk is quite flexible and difficult to break, so it can be used for various purposes.
❧ (Flower #03)

CREDIT
❦❦
The base plant resembles a large bright red dandelion; it's seed head version is also bright red. When the plant has taken over a corpse, its most identifying features are a bright red rose-life bloom somewhere on the corpse. Cutting open the corpse will reveal brown roots in a large density.
Carnivorous plant that only grows on corpses (typically only ones with bones). Takes about two hours for a seed that's landed on an open wound to grow roots that stretch over the entire span of the corpse, under the skin, and begins to move it. Hunts down live prey to eat; the plant feeds on blood instead of water so it'll continually hunt for prey when its host's stomach is low on food to prevent it from consuming the corpse instead. Once the corpse is no longer able to move due to wear or its out of blood, the plant begins to bloom in its dandelion version instead. Takes about three days for a plant to completely drain its corpse without food.
Once purified and dried out, the roots taste like beef jerky. Can be kept and stored for an extended amount of time this way.

MOSS
❧ Common Moss

CREDIT
Moss grows in a wide range of size, shape, color, and consistency over just about anything that holds still long enough for it to.
It grows EVERYWHERE.
Unlike its indoor relative, most moss found outdoors have relatively no uses. Some rare ones have some medicinal value, but it's difficult to distinguish them from others.

TREES
❧ Rainforest Trees

CREDIT
Dark brown trees that range from 200 to 500 feet in height over the surface water covering the forest floor and can grow up to 50 feet around. Their lower branches tend to grow in every direction, creating a network of intertwining branches that spread out all across the rainforest. The higher branches are covered in hand-sized green leaves and spread out to form a very solid canopy.
Serves as a growing surface for just about every other plant life in the forest, as well as a hunting ground for all wild life as well.
The easiest way to travel around the rainforest, particularly down to the lower levels of the rainforest.
❧ Blue Nuts

CREDIT
Thin, tall trees that grow up against other trees and branches. The branches act more like vines, growing on top of other vines and spreading out across a wall. Its leaves are small and a blueish-green; it also grows blue, golf-ball sized nuts.
The nuts it grows have an extremely hard shell; it takes a lot of strength to get one open, but it is possible. The nuts attract a large number of herbivorous animals, and in turn, predators are attracted to those.
Crack open the nuts and you'll find them to actually contain an assortment of different nuts in one shell (it's like trail mix in there). All of the nuts inside are edible.

VEGETABLES
❧ Spicy Running Potato

CREDIT
❦❦❦
A single green stalk with a 'bloom' made out of palm-sized leaves shaped into a disk. Underground, the plant's roots resemble deep red potatoes with stubby growths that resemble legs. The potatoes come in varied sizes and shapes, all roughly the size of a fist.
Grows underground in moss mounds or piles of dirt. Startled by loud noises; in response, one stalk will turn red and release up to five potatoes, which will burst out of the ground and run blindly for a new pile of dirt or moss to bury into. The potatoes are ridiculously fast and agile.
The potatoes are dense and filling and slightly on the spicy side to eat. The leaves are also edible.
❧ (Veggie #01)

CREDIT
❦❦
A stubby round plant that resembles a bulb, no larger than a square foot. Out of the top of the bulb sprouts dozens of long, seaweed-like tendrils that float freely in the water surrounding the plant.
The tendrils are naturally attracted to heat and will immediately entangle themselves around anything emitting it.
The plant itself is carnivorous but lacks the ability to kill its own prey. Instead, it generally grows on the backs of other creatures and ensnares prey for its host, then feeds on the smaller pieces of flesh as they float by.
The bulb of the plant, along with the tendrils, are both edible once dried out. They become crunchy and a little salty and meaty in taste.
❧ (Veggie #02)

CREDIT
❦❦❦
Above ground, the plant resembles a tangled, unnoticeable clump of green shoots. Under ground though, the root of this plant resembles a small, clunky person, generally no taller than two feet.
This plant is known to transfer itself throughout odd times of the day to places with better lighting or better air, depending on its needs. Makes giggling noises as it runs. The leaves of the plant are covered in a clear dust that causes blindness upon contact with eyes. Lasts for three days and takes effect within ten minutes.
Blindness inflicted by the leaves of the plant can be cured by making a paste out of the root of the plant, mixed with blessed water. The paste is applied to the eyes. The body of the plant itself is a root vegetable and fairly starchy to eat.

VINES
❧ Common Vines

CREDIT
Ridiculously sturdy vines that twine all across the branches of the trees. Can grow to be over two feet thick.
Grows at a rate of an inch per minute (40 ft/8 hours).
Another quick way to travel around the rainforest. Also serves as quick-burning fuel, like their indoor relatives.
❧ Acid Vines

CREDIT
❦❦❦
Thick, blackish vines that have a rubbery feel and are squishy as if they are full of some kind of goo.
Tend to form in tangled nests along wide branches and hang down in long ropes. If cut open they are full of a corrosive goo that will immediately eat away at any living/formerly living material, including other plants, animals, bones, flesh, and clothing! When it does it emits a smoke that is not toxic in small amounts but will induce headaches and nausea in larger amounts. When the goo runs out of stuff to eat it will solidify and can be scraped away fairly easily.
The goo is pretty useful for clearing out nature by letting it eat away at larger clumps of biomatter. Can be contained in glass or stone or metal fairly easily for other purposes.
❧ Sweetart Vines (Sweetart Berries)

CREDIT
❦❦
A thick dark brown vine with deep blue and green leaves. From the vine grows large orange berries, the size of coconuts on average, with a thin peel covered in blunt spikes. The berries grow in clumps of a dozen or so along the length of the vine.
The vine only grows tangled around branches and tree trunks that are just above the water's edge.
The berries are edible, sweet or tart depending on when they're picked! Berries picked during daylight hours are sweet, berries picked during rain or night are tart.
